Becky Forrest graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University’s Internal Medicine residency training program in 2015 and completed a year as chief medical resident in 2016. Subsequently, she joined the faculty in the VCU Department of Internal Medicine as an academic hospitalist and an associate program director for the residency program. As an academic hospitalist, she works with residents on the inpatient medicine teams, the medicine consult service, and the procedure service. As an associate program director, she developed expertise in curriculum development and oversaw longitudinal, conference, and clinical curricula for the training program. She also developed a formal curriculum in resilience and wellness, started the residency program Wellness Committee, and runs a curriculum in reflective practice for interns. She became program director in 2020 and has continued work in those areas. Her scholarly interests are in medical education including procedural competency, wellness, reflective practice, and knowledge acquisition and assessment.
Outside of work, Dr. Forrest enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs, completing projects on her historic home in Church Hill, paddle-boarding and canoeing on the James River, and spending time with extended family.
