Dr. Kalahasty is Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at VCU Medical Center and serves as consultant in cardiac electrophysiology at McGuire VA Medical Center. He also has consultative and procedural privileges at Mary Washington Hospital, MedCorp, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond and Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
Dr. Kalahasty graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University with a BA degree in liberal arts and medical education. He received early acceptance to Boston University School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree, graduating in 1996. Dr. Kalahasty did his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University in Internal Medicine. He received his cardiology fellowship training in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and in Cardiovascular Diseases at Henry Ford Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan.
Dr. Kalahasty is a frequent cardiology lecturer to various groups at VCU Medical Center, including the Division of Nurse Anesthesia, the Department of Anesthesia, the Division of Cardiology, and the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. In 2005, the Cardiology Fellowship Teaching Program recognized his instructional skills with the Excellence in Teaching Award. He has had articles and abstracts published by JAMA; the World Congress on Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology; and PACE, the journal of pacing and clinical electrophysiology.
