Ching-Yi Chen, PhD
Department: Massey Cancer Center
Dr. Ching-Yi Chen received his B.S. degree from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan (1986) and Ph.D. degree from Baylor College of Medicine (1996). He received his postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Karin at University of California at San Diego. He joined the faculty at University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2002 and recently joined Dr. Robert Winn’s laboratory at Massey Cancer Center at VCU. Dr. Chen’s educational background and research training are in the areas of Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, and RNA biology.
Research Interests: Dr. Chen’s research is aimed to understand how post-transcriptional gene regulation controlled by RNA-binding proteins contributes to the development of lung cancer, and develop assays to screen small molecule compounds that intervene RNA-protein interaction to inhibit the growth of lung cancer cells.
