My name is Trinidad M. Sanchez, I am a doctor graduated from Universidad Mayor de San Simon in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Currently I am a research fellow mentored by Dr. Samira Shojaee at Virginia Commonwealth University in the section of Interventional Pulmonology, division of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. I work under the supervision of Dr. Shojaee on numerous projects mostly focused on pleural diseases including benign and malignant pleural effusions. I participate in research discussions including research design and methodology, IRB preparation, subject recruitment and data collection and am currently completing a BioStatistics course offered by the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. Currently, we have two ongoing studies and three others undergoing IRB reviewing planned to start on early 2020. One of our current studies is on extravesicular MiRNA and other biomarkers of malignant and non-malignant pleural effusion for which we work closely with the Molecular Medicine Research Building (MMRB) laboratory and Dr. Nana-Sinkam’s laboratory.
