Coming from Italy, Michela Saviana obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences and her Master’s Degree in Neurobiology at Sapienza University of Rome. During her Master’s thesis, she worked at the National Research Council (CNR) where she investigated how neuronal activation due to cognitive stimulation can be detrimental in conditions of genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s Disease.
Her current projects are focused on the characterization of cancer-related extracellular vesicles (EVs). In particular, she is examining the microRNA and protein content of EVs released from lung cancer cell lines through RNA sequencing and proteomics. She is also investigating the potential of circulating microRNAs as lung cancer biomarkers, as well as their functions on the disease progress.
During her free time, she loves to visit new places, draw, cook, and read.
