Dr. Acunzo received his Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the School of Medicine of the University of Naples (Italy). He worked for several years at Ohio State University (OSU), focusing on the role of non-coding RNAs in Lung Cancer. In 2017 he moved as faculty at VCU, Department of Internal Medicine (DOIM). His group designs artificial small RNA molecules to target cancer-causing genetic mutations for developing new treatments for lung cancer. His research also focuses on the study of post-transcriptional RNA modifications, (A to I - editing) in Lung Cancer.
