What is Hospital Medicine?
Hospital Medicine is a medical specialty where we care for patients in the hospital. We treat many medical conditions and work along with all of the care teams you may see. Our team includes physicians ("hospitalists") and non-physician clinicians (Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician’s Assistants (PAs).

The exact time can vary, but in general bedside rounds from your hospitalist occurs between 8am – 11am.
We come by in person for rounds every day in the morning and this is a great time to meet your hospitalist and ask questions. Your primary hospitalist team is here in the hospital between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. We're here to assist you, answer questions, and help make the plan clear to you. Outside of typical working hours, a member of the hospitalist team is here 24/7 for any urgent issues.
Hospital Medicine has a big team, and sometimes your hospitalist might change during your admission. We will always introduce ourselves, but please speak up if things get confusing – we know there can be a lot of people in and out on your care team.
We are often on the go throughout the hospital, so the best way to get in touch with your hospitalist is through your bedside nurse. They can send a message or page to us anytime.
