Central American Relief Elective (C.A.R.E.)

In June 2010, a team of four internists, including two medicine residents, participated in medical relief in rural Honduras as a part of the Department of Internal Medicine’s Central American Relief Elective, in partnership with the nonprofit organization HOMBRE (Honduras Outreach Medical Brigada Relief Effort).

The team saw more than 500 patients in direct clinical consultation in the towns of Lomitas, La Hicaca and Coyoles. C.A.R.E. is offered yearly by the Department of Internal Medicine and those interested in this rotation should contact Mike Stevens for more information.
